Finally some updates

It's been awhile since I've been on here so I have a few updates.

School:
I had my first parent/teacher conference with Marissa. I was very excited to see how she was doing and she's doing great! Her teacher said she is very polite, does her assignments and then sits quietly until she is told what to do next, which is definitely different from at home:) At her table there is one other girl and three boys. The girls act like the mothers at their table and try to get the boys to listen and behave. Her teacher is worried she will get bored with the material, so she's trying to give her more work to do during school. I was worried about her going to school all day since she was used to being home, but she loves it and I am so proud of her! She is learning a lot and making a lot of friends.

Kindergarten photo. It's kind of blurry because I don't have a scanner, so this is a picture of a picture:)
The first thing she said when she saw this picture: "Oh man, you can totally see my scar still!" It's hard to see on this picture but she has a scar on her forehead. When she was three she fell and hit her head on the corner of the trim. She had a cut all the way down to the bone and had layers of stitches. Looks like the scar is staying for good.

Addy was used to a lot of girls in her church class in MN, but is the only girl in her preschool class and she loves it. She's going to be a heart-breaker one day:) Her and the teacher's son are best buds. He even sticks up for her when some of the other boys say she can't do things, (like play with the toy guns they build out of legos) because she's a girl. Before we moved to Utah she had a huge problem with doing things by herself, she always had to be with Marissa. But now she loves it. She's making her own friends and learning a lot.

When it started to get cold, I bought all three of us these brown boots. They are so comfortable and warm. Addy loves them and wears them everywhere.

Move:
So we finally got out of the house we were renting. While I am going to miss living in a house, the management company was way too stressful to deal with. We moved on Halloween which was definitely not a good idea. We moved to a 3rd floor apartment and Amber and I moved almost everything ourselves. Fortunately we have made some really good friends here. A couple of friends from my work moved a few heavy things for us, and Amber's boss lent us her truck for the move and then their dumpster for the things we had to toss from the flood. I don't know what we would have done without them!

Halloween:
So we started moving our stuff at 8am on Halloween, stopped at 5pm to put the girls costumes on, eat dinner, and go trick or treating with Marissa's friend, then finished moving until about 10pm. Luckily the girls were really good all day and had a blast trick or treating. They were both cowgirls this year.

Doing the cowgirl pose!

Up next: getting ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love this time of the year!

My Little Cleaner...

We're moving in two weeks and have so much stuff to do. We have to find a dump to get rid of all the stuff that was ruined in the flood, we have to mow the lawn and pick up all the gross apples that fell on the ground, we have to pack everything again, I have a few things I want to try to sell, and I have two unfinished bookcases that I want to paint or stain. Plus we have all the normal things like cleaning on a regular basis, cooking, and dishes. I have been really lacking with the cleaning. The girls room is probably the worst. Marissa asked a friend to come over so they HAD to clean their room. For some reason Addy really wanted to clean her room by herself. She was in there for about 20 minutes and then asked me to go look at it. It was beautiful! The beds were made and the floor was clean. Then she asked me to help her shut the closet door. This is what I found..

There are also a bunch of toys behind the clothes. I've never just thrown everything in the closet so I'm not sure where she got it from. She was so proud of herself for cleaning that there was no way I was going to get mad at her. I have a sneaky little girl!

Fall Fun

Last weekend the weather was beautiful and we decided to go to a cornfield maze. We went to the apple orchard every year in MN but have never gone to a cornfield maze. There are quite a few of them here and a lot of them are very big. I found a smaller one that would be easier for the girls.

This is the huge slide. Marissa went down so many times. Addy went down twice and was done. Too scary. They are the two that are on the slide.

They took turns leading the way in the cornfield maze. After about 10 minutes Marissa said, "Can't we just find the way out now?" Luckily it was easy to get out. I'm glad we didn't go to one of the big expensive ones since neither of them really liked it.

They also had a corn bin with candy hidden. Addy spent most of her time there digging for candy while Marissa was on the slide. The place was called Pumpkinaze but it was lacking pumpkins. So this weekend we are going to search for a pumpkin patch.

Good Find

I bought this last weekend at the bookstore in Salt Lake:

It's kind of hard to read. It says "If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it"

I thought it was perfect for me at this time. It is a good reminder that I can get through anything because He will help me. I'm not doing this alone.

Communication meets technology

I love the cell phone commercials where people communicate with letters instead of words. Example: "IDK, my BFF Jill"(Cingular commercial). Amber likes to do that a lot. Yesterday she said WTF and Marissa wanted to be part of the conversation so she said BARS. That of course doesn't mean anything but it was super funny. I'm just waiting for her to ask for a cell phone for Christmas instead of barbies. She won't get one, but it's just a matter of time:)
